During your first visit to Manotick PhysioWorks, we will thoroughly assess your injury or condition, and work together to create your customized treatment plan.
Your First Visit
Please arrive about 10 minutes early so that you have enough time to fill out a New Patient Form.
Initial Examination
Your clinician will begin by reviewing your medical history and ask questions to get a complete picture of issue that you are experiencing as well as completing a comprehensive exam.
Treatment Plan
Based on your history and examination, your clinician will develop a custom treatment plan that may include a variety of treatment modalities. Our team will also take the time to answer any questions you have about your injury and treatment options.
Insurance
We accept extended healthcare coverage, motor vehicle collision, RCMP, National Defence and Veterans Affairs. Remember, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist.
Appointments & Cancellations
We will reserve your appointment time especially for you and as such, we require 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. A cancellation fee of $40 applies for physiotherapy and massage therapy appointments, respectively, cancelled within 24 hours.
To cancel an appointment, please call the clinic as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and any conflicts or concerns may be discussed with the treating therapist regarding the cancellation policy terms.

Do I need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy?
You do not need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy as physiotherapists are regulated health professionals. It is important to consult your insurance company to determine if a doctor’s referral is required for reimbursement of your treatment.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your individual condition and symptoms. After the assessment the therapist will communicate with you the findings and together you can develop individual treatment goals. At this time the therapist will also review how many sessions are required per week. Each individual responds to treatment differently and as a result it is important that the therapist and client continually communicate to ensure that treatment goals are both consistent and efficiently achieved.

How will my condition or injury be treated?
Treatment (that day and/or any other visit) varies from patient to patient and may consist a combination of a variety of the services we offer at Manotick PhysioWorks. This may include of manual therapy, exercise, education, acupuncture, dry needling, or other services relevant to your recovery and treatment plan.
Your therapist may provide patient handouts at the end of your visit, which may include exercises, information sheets, or management strategies, to help your understanding and recovery beyond the clinic.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please wear clothing that makes it easy for us to access your injured body part. This could mean shorts if you have injured your lower body or back or a tank top or bra top if you have injured your shoulder, neck, or mid-back, for example. If you forget or are unsure of what to wear, we have appropriate clothing and draping here at the clinic.
If you have a physiotherapy or massage referral, please bring that along, as well as any investigation/imaging reports you have had completed related to your injury or condition. Please also bring any footwear that may contribute to your symptoms, and/or orthotics that you are currently using for support.

What will happen during my first visit?
Your first visit will consist of a thorough examination of your injured body part and any other areas that may be influencing or related to your primary injury. Your therapist will then review the details of your condition and discuss a goal-oriented treatment plan with you.

Why should I see a Registered Physiotherapist?
Registered Physiotherapists are required by law to have a license issued by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario in order to practice in the province. A Registered Physiotherapist is a graduate of a recognized university program which includes both clinical and academic study. Ongoing professional development is a requirement of all Registered Physiotherapists.
