Cathy Cooney graduated from the University of Toronto Physiotherapy Program in 1997. For 20 years she worked in private clinic settings in Ottawa, focusing on orthopaedics and sports injuries. She spent many years pursuing post-graduate training to further her expertise in areas such as manual therapy, McKenzie method, acupuncture, core/cervical spine stabilization exercises, and myofascial release techniques.
Cathy became interested in Pelvic Health, shortly after the giving birth to her two children in the early 2000’s. Seeing that this was an underserviced area in Ottawa at the time, and understanding the importance of optimum pelvic floor function, in 2006, Cathy became focused on pursuing training in Pelvic Floor physiotherapy for women in addition to her ortho/sports background. Cathy’s current sole focus is Pelvic Health, and she is passionate about helping teens and women of all ages relieve their symptoms related to their pelvic floor dysfunction and achieve their goals. She strives to create a connection with her clients and create a comfortable treatment environment, through compassion and understanding.
She enjoys continuing to learn new techniques through courses, online learning, discussion groups and webinars and participating in public education through community seminars. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys reading, exercising at the gym, and spending time creating memories with her husband and two awesome teenagers.
